GLENDALE, Calif.— The Armenian National Committee of America, Glendale Chapter (ANCA-Glendale) announces the endorsement of incumbents Rafi Manoukian for City Treasurer, Ardy Kassakhian for City Clerk, as well as Dr. Armine Hacopian for Glendale Community College Board of Trustees (GCC) District 3, and Ann H. Ransford for GCC District 2. ANCA-Glendale encourages a Yes vote on the Ballot Measure L, which will amend the City Charter to require a 3-year term limit for councilmembers. Genocide Education Project: GenEd & Glendale School District Host 2-Day Teacher-Training Workshop

Glendale, CA – The Glendale Unified School District and The Genocide Education Project (GenEd) hosted a 2-day teacher-training workshop on Genocide education, using the Armenian Genocide as a case study. “In my 20 years of teaching in this district, this workshop was by far the best, most informative, and most beneficial workshop of my career,” wrote Angelina Dawson, a history teacher at Rosemont Middle School. In an email after the workshop, Dawson thanked the district for “providing outstanding speakers, short films, and plentiful resources for us to use in the classroom. ANCA-Glendale Hosts Welcoming for GUSD Superintendent Roberson

ANCA-Glendale Endorses Measure GC

GLENDALE – The Armenian National Committee Glendale Chapter announced on Thursday its endorsement of the Glendale Community College proposed bond measure–Measure GC–slated to be on the November 8 ballot. If approved by voters, proceeds from Measure GC will be used to pay for classroom upgrades, construction of new facilities and technological improvements for programs such as digital media, nursing, science and engineering, law enforcement and firefighting training. Glendale Becomes First In Nation to Close Schools on April 24

GLENDALE — The Glendale Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to observe April 24 as the “Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day” and mandating the closure of all 14 schools within the district. The resolution, the first of its kind in the Diaspora, will be enacted within the entire GUSD system, which represents more than 50,000 Armenian students, parents, teachers, administration, and staff.
