Glendale, CA – On January 29, the Glendale Unified School District Board of Education at their Special Board Meeting released (by a vote of 3-2) Superintendent Dr. Winfred B. Roberson, Jr. from his existing contract without cause, effective immediately, pursuant to contract paragraph 11(c), GUSD Board of Education released a statement on January 30th.
According to the source, Dr. Kelly King will take on the role of Interim Superintendent while the Board of Education searches for a permanent Superintendent. Dr. King has spent her 28-year career with GUSD, beginning as a teacher in 1990 and most recently serving as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.
“Our team will assist with a smooth transition and keep the
district focused on the important work of educating our students. The Board of
Education has a plan to move the district forward with new leadership. We will
discuss the search process for a new Superintendent at our upcoming meeting on
February 5. Once finalized, we will share the search process details with all
GUSD stakeholders.
GUSD is an exceptional school district. My fellow Board Members and I are proud
of the hard work of our dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff, and
confident about the positive direction in which our district is heading. We are
